The 2024 Northeast Acquirers Association annual conference is here. It’s happening April 2-4, at the Albany Capital Center in cosmopolitan Albany, New York. North will be there — will you?

What is the NEAA? Some background information.

Since 1985, the organization has worked to serve, inform, and improve the payment industry. For nearly four decades they’ve been educating us on industry trends, topics, and technology. In fact, they host the longest-running regional conference in the electronic payments industry. 

The NEAA’s mission is to serve as an educational forum for financial Institutions and ISOs / MSPs / MLSs in the acquiring industry. The organization is a non-profit, non-membership regional association chartered to serve the needs of all merchant-acquiring payment professionals.

The annual conference is traditionally a big deal, and this year promises to be bigger than ever. It’s not just an educational experience, however, it’s a great opportunity for independent sales organizations, merchant services agents, and others to meet and mingle with payment technology innovators — like NAB.

Here’s the agenda high notes for this year’s event, day by day.

Tuesday, April 2.

Things kick off in the evening with an invitation-only sponsor appreciation cocktail reception from 6-10 p.m., hosted by the NEAA board of directors.

Wednesday, April 3.

• Surcharge/Cash Discount Workshop delving into issues and solutions related to this topic. The Strawhecker Group’s Jeff Fortney will lead the session.
• Catapult 2024 competition. This annual innovation competition features four companies, each touting a new product or service in a lightning round Q&A from a judging panel consisting of last year’s winner, Fisherman, and three other investment community professionals. The winners will take home a cash prize.

Thursday, April 4.

This day will be devoted to a series of educational sessions. 

• Keynote: “AI/ChatGPT in the Acquiring World.” Conor Grennan, Dean of Students at NYU Stern School of Business, AI specialist, author, and philanthropist will speak on this very hot topic.
• “Faster Payments/Realtime Payments: How to Gain Merchant Advantage.”
• “Merchant Funding/ Small Business Lending: The Changing Landscape.”
• “View from the Hill.” Guest speaker Scott Talbott, EVP Government Relations, ETA, will offer his insights.
• Card Scheme Panel: Perspectives from Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
